sabbath rest

After posting every day for three months, I missed yesterday.
Guess what? Nothing happened. The Earth still spins, the sun still rises, my children still argue and then squeeze the life right out of me with hugs.
I am a bit of a control freak when it comes to stuff like this. That might be putting it nicely. I’m an all or nothing kind of gal. So when I went to bed on Friday without posting anything, this entire project’s success lie in the balance.
Guess what? Nothing happened, except everything that was supposed to happen in my real life, actual, in my face, tactile world.
So, here’s the new plan…
For the next three months, I will post only when I actually do have something to say. It might not be anything stellar, but this will be a time when I post because I want to, not just because it is part of the project, and I feel like I have to. Hopefully that will still be about three or four times a week, with time set aside for rest.

For today, enjoy your sabbath rest.

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. ah yes- that grace thing– wear it well- I began my blog over 3 years ago with that mantra and believe that is why I still love sitting down to write there- a gift not a demand- enjoy the freedom….

  2. I can relate and understand. Good luck! 🙂

  3. Oh boy do I get this. I photographed a wedding this summer (my first and probably my last… SOOO much work!!) and I got to a point during the editing process where I couldn’t bear to look at my camera or edit a photo. So I missed a couple days of my project 365 and never recovered. In fact I still have taken very few photos in the last couple of months. I am using old photos for some blog posts (gasp! ha!) and I find myself wondering if I will recover my love of photography. Of course I know I will at some point. I always do. But I too am an all-or-nothing kind of girl so I know that internal struggle you are referencing and the negotiating you probably did with yourself about how to handle it, ha! Here’s to being works in progress (and do keep writing because I just found your blog and am enjoying it! lol)

    • Thank you! I’m glad you’re here. I have to say that I’m really enjoying your blog too! I so appreciate the words of encouragement! I was just thinking the other day about how my youngest daughter will have very few photos of her in comparison to her older siblings. Perhaps I’ll take a few tomorrow…

  4. I can relate to this post! I usually post on Thursdays, but I just can’t think of anything to say. So…tomorrow I won’t and the world will keep turning just like you said! 🙂

your comments are better than eating chocolate in a hammock on a 70 degree day...almost
