the mighty climb of 39

Thank you so much for being willing to support me even in moments of insanity! You know though, this kind of stuff just spurs me on! You never know what I’m going to be asking of you next! I think I’ve said before, knowing me should come with some sort of warning label. There, you’ve been warned. 🙂

I was fairly certain from the moment this idea popped into my head that I could do it…until of course, the night before. It felt much like signing up for a half marathon that is five months away knowing that sometime in that five months you will have to deliver a baby. You would think I would learn.

I did go with a plan though. I decided that I would walk 5 sets of steps and then do a lap around the track. That made it so those muscles critical to me not falling flat on my face got a little bit of rest at just the right time. My mom and dad came with to walk with me, count steps, keep me hydrated, and cheer me on.

Here’s a little how the mighty climb of 39 (Ooo, ooo, that rhymes and I kinda like it) went…

Sets 1-10 – “This is feeling pretty good. I think I can do this. I’m gonna be a little sore tomorrow.”

Sets 10-20 – “Whose ridiculous idea was this? I may actually be crawling the last half.”

Sets 20-30 – “Marifaith, Dixie, Elsbeth, Julie, Alana, Jen, Kaycee…” (You ladies are awesome!)

Sets 31-35 – “Only 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 more. I think I might be a little sad that I’m almost done…okay, that moment has passed.”

Sets 36-39 – (And you must read this in your best Haitian accent) “No problem.”

Of course, the best part of yesterday was thinking about party packs that you all have been busy making! Some of which were made in honor or in memory of someone you know and love, (which I love!) some of which were made in honor of those you do not know, but you know God loves. (again, amazing stuff!)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

By the way…I would love for you to share any thoughts on your experience making and delivering your party packs. I know Julie shared hers here. Feel free to also share any other links to similarly nutso, but lovely at the same time, activities in which you have participated.

And again, Thank you!

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. I love this. I have been waiting all day to see this! I’m prqpud of you and all those that participated! You have inspired me to do something for my birthday! Good thing I have a few months to figure it out! 😉

  2. I’m finally able to read again without my head wanting to explode!! Congrats on making your goal again! I will be making my packs this week, so will post pictures when I’m done (although it could take sometime, as my almost 3 year old always wants to “help out” and makes things even longer!). I too am inspired to do something special when my birthday rolls around…but definitely have lots of time to think about it!

    • Let me know. I would be glad to help in any way I can!…I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling a little better. Prayers for continued healing! Thank you Marifaith!
