In just five days I will be 39 years old. The mocking may commence…now. Okay, that was great, anyway…
The first birthday I really remember was when I turned eight. My mom made cupcakes in ice cream cones, way back before Pinterest. Way back before it was cool, she was.
I remember a surprise party when I was 13 and a very decorated car when I celebrated number 16 and then there was my ahem, 21st…enter mom once again. I remember the angel food cake and the ice cream and the flowers sent special delivery by my dad every year since I first left for college.
I’m certain you have some similar memories. I am also certain that there were children in my classes when I was teaching whose parents could afford none of those memory making things. Perhaps you know some of those children as well. Look around. I bet you do. I was thinking about them today…a lot actually, and so I’m asking you to help me celebrate by helping them celebrate.
Here’s the deal…
On Monday, September 1st I will run/walk/crawl one set of stairs at our local college football stadium (click here) for every party pack you pledge to donate to your local food bank.
Of course a party is not complete without…
- cake (a box mix)
- party hats
These five items must be in each kit…but you may include any additional party supplies you deem absolutely necessary for a party’s success.
Each party pack gets you 120 steps and will be honored up to 39 sets…or until I pass out. 🙂 For those of you counting, that’s 4,680 steps!
Friends, family, and strangers alike, I hope you’ll do this with me! Just comment below with the number of party packs you would like to donate, then check back on Monday afternoon sometime to see the results.
Thank you! Now I must go sleep, or carbo load, no sleep, no, carbo load…
