Being a nursing mother in the summer months is difficult. The challenge is always staying covered in some manner while not completely cooking baby. Enter Frogg Toggs! Seriously, this may be my new favorite baby shower gift and not just for nursing mothers. Anytime I take my bigs out in the heat of the day I worry that Youngest Daughter is going to get overheated or burned to a crisp. I don’t want to douse her with layers upon layers of sunscreen all over her new little body either. This towel once wet, stays cool for…well, as long as you need it to. I’ve used it as a nursing blanket this summer, but also just to place it on Youngest when we’re outside in the heat. Anyone who spends any time outside will enjoy having one of these! I have a lime green one, but would suggest that you buy a darker color so that not every speck of dirt shows. You will be outside after all!

Chicken macaroni. Now that I know how to shred chicken without it flying all over my kitchen. A chicken macaroni recipe shared by a very kind grandmother from our first congregation is one of my favorite things to make. It is super easy and delicious! I can’t find the recipe anywhere online and I don’t want to give it away without her permission, but you’re all welcome to come over for dinner and give it a try!

Jello pudding. Bill Cosby was right. I have been eating the generic variety for awhile, and in my book generic passes the test almost every time, but Jello was on sale recently and well, I’m not going back. There is no comparison, especially if you’re using the sugar free variety…no contest.

Bible study. These came in the mail today and I cannot wait to get started!

Watching God’s people care for one another. A friend’s father passed away this week and though I could not be with her, I could see evidence of God’s hands and feet working mightily through many other people all throughout the week. You all are incredible!

Ok, your turn. What are just a couple of your favorite things?

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. Heather!

LOVE The Frogg Toggs idea! I am now officially Christmas shopping while I sit in the 100 degree weather! Also I am glad you shared the quenched book, I need to get ours ordered for our next bible study. Thanks for the reminder.

Kroger brand box brownies. I like them better than the name brand. Dillons sells the Kroger brand.

Sure Jell pectin. Seriously, I took another route on pectin on a batch or two of jam, and I can’t sell it. Too runny. It’s edible, just not sure people would like the slightly too runny version!

    • I have not tried those brownies…will have to put them on my shopping list for the next time I am in a town with a Kroger. I soooo miss Dillons! You could sell the runny version as some sort of dipping sauce. Or, ooo, ooo, syrup for pancakes! Yes!

  2. Great things 🙂 That nursing blanket sounds great! I know what you mean about feeling like you’re cooking the baby 🙂

  3. Donna’s book is on the stack to read in the next few weeks… will have to check that tip for cooling babes

  4. Great idea for nursing! This summer heat has been intense with a baby!

your comments are better than eating chocolate in a hammock on a 70 degree day...almost
