a few of my favorite things

For the past…almost 5 months, I’ve been carting around a bag filled with all things baby. But, in the all too near future, I will go back to being a purse wielding momma. When this time comes, I will be headed back here. 3 Cords is an organization in Haiti that employs Haitian women to make all kinds of lovely things with which you can carry all your treasures. I love this organization because they were founded post earthquake to give women who had been injured in the quake an opportunity to provide for their families. Their purses are well made and beautiful, and simply carrying around one of their creations makes me smile.

Blue Bunny Bordeaux Cherry Chocolate ice cream. Are you kidding me? I don’t normally care for ice cream. Don’t get my wrong, I mean it does contain sugar, but I much prefer cake with a thick layer of homemade icing. This ice cream however is marvelous. Truly.

Four year olds who use big words. My four year old’s new favorite is, “literally.” She actually uses it correctly…most of the time.

Incomplete sentences. A place to write in a conversational style and not worry about whether every slew of words between a capital letter and a period has a noun and a verb or how many commas I use. (Sorry about that one. I know it drives some of you crazy.) I do want to spell correctly though, so if you see where I have messed this up, call me on it. Oh, and I will never confuse then and than, or it’s and its. That is my pledge to you. Except when I do.

Little girls in dresses. My girls would wear nothing but dresses if their closets would allow. Specifically I love Hanna Andersson dresses. They cover everything they are supposed to and with four girls I can justify spending a little more money for the quality. Get on their e-mail list and watch for sales. They post them early in the mornings. Yesterday I picked up swimming suits for the girls for next summer at a huge discount.

What are some of your favorite things?

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. Love 3 cords of course! Thanks for sharing the girls website! πŸ™‚

  2. just wanted to let you know that the Pinterest logo did not take me to the 3 Cord board on Pinterest – I found it but am sure you want to direct traffic rich there!

    • Connie, I’m sorry, I’m confused. The link in the post should take you directly to the 3 cords website. I don’t think I had anything linked up to Pinterest. I see that their Pinterest link at the bottom of their site is not working. Would you mind sharing the board that you found? Perhaps I’m not understanding…wouldn’t be the first time. πŸ™‚ Thank you for visiting! Remember to come back tomorrow to see all of the ladies participating in the link-up!

  3. My favorite thing right now is fresh air in the early morning dawn, cuddles from my Breezy girl (Border Collie), husband keeping light on waiting for me to come to bed and a little grand dog that thinks her grandma is a “treat.” Little things, but big things in my heart. Thank you for sharing.

  4. favorite things…

    — right now, a space to just write, and like you say not worry about the picky details of what pours out between the (maybe) capital latter and the (if I feel like it) period. πŸ™‚

getting to know new bloggers- and not in a 2 second linky post kind of wya- thank you for facilitating this Heather! Reallly enjoying the link up!

    — sneaking away fromm the family while the littles nap to get a frost and some internet time!

  5. This is my first time hearing of 3 Cords. Those are some beautiful bags. Thanks for sharing that!

    My favorite things:

~The peace and freedom during the summer. The school year is so hectic so being able to breathe a little and be lazy is wonderful. And the grandparents are coming to take the kids next week! Personal time πŸ™‚

~Homemade ice cream. I went through some massive diet changes this past year and ice cream dropped off the list. I have recently discovered the joy of trying new dairy free ice creams that fit in my diet….and getting to try all the mistakes while I perfect the recipe.

~Goat cheese with fresh chives on toast. Kind of like cream cheese on a bagel but better.

Strange how 2 of my 3 favorite things are related to food lol. I think its because food was such the enemy for a year that I’m loving discovering new treats.

Thanks for joining in on the Fulfilled Fridays Link-up and thank you so much for starting the bloggers group.

    • Grandparents who are willing and able to come take the kids have got to be in my top five favorite things of all time! Our children have gotten to spend quite a bit of time with their grandparents on individual trips to their homes.
I have many many favorite things that are related to food! πŸ™‚
