unplugged

There is this lovely little place in the middle of Kansas that has become a bit of a second home for us. So much so, that when we visited this week, I was a little momma bear defensive about how careless some of my little home’s other visitors have been.

The Kansas district section of our church body had the foresight to know that there would be times when their people, not just pastors’ families, but their people in its entirety, would need a retreat. And so, a beautiful place was created in the middle of nowhere, beside a lake, with enough room to house 14 grandchildren, their grandparents, and everyone in between. It is completely unplugged and so were we for our time there. No television, no email, no Facebook, and we survived, all of us, and so did everyone in our outside world.

For those of you that live in the area and are members of this church body, you must book some time in this place! It is fully stocked with everything you need for a restful time away. (Except for a spaghetti server. Hmm) We’re headed back in a month to retreat again with some of the other families for which this home was built. (Probably with a spaghetti server in hand.)

Unplug…go back to the craziness of this age…repeat. I highly recommend it.

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. I’m thinking an annual retreat here for the 4 Loquacious Lutheran Ladies?????

your comments are better than eating chocolate in a hammock on a 70 degree day...almost
