what would you do…

…if you knew no one would ever find out?

Pay for a stranger’s dinner?

Play intently with your children all day?

Mow your neighbor’s lawn?

Or maybe you would…

Steal a car?

Cheat on your spouse?

Egg your neighbor’s house?

That’s why I’m a little hesitant today as I begin this project. I’m wondering if I need someone to hold me accountable, for my words, for my actions. This world of anonymity is absolutely enticing…and terrifying. We live in a society in which people are free, encouraged, even mandated to speak their minds without any thought being given to the consequences. It is after all my right. That is the cause for which our men and women fight, you know, so that I can say anything I want, (especially if I can do it anonymously.) Um, yeah, no. When people live like that things get ugly very quickly. Either that, or they end up on reality television.

This is my pledge to you, Dear Reader Who Has Yet to Exist, I will try. I will try to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others as I share my thoughts with you. I will try to hear your argument with open ears and an open heart. I will try to show love.

I will try.

I want you to see life the way I see it. Often contradictory, seldom predictable, many times lovely, occasionally tragic, but every day filled with God's grace.

  1. I’ve always thought what I would be like if I didn’t believe in God. Knowing that there is a God means I actually try harder to be a good person. When God is taken out of the picture, I think that’s when people tend to do whatever they want to do.
